Boston
Over the last 12 years, the Museum of Fine Arts and the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museums have implemented VTS in more than 40 schools in the Boston area. Simultaneously, they have hosted and presented at conferences and workshops, conducted nationally recognized research studies, and written articles studying the effect of VTS teaching on student growth, learning and academic achievement.
In the spring of 2007, a collaboration of VTS practitioners working in Boston area institutions was formed. The goal for this group is to share insights, discuss VTS teaching methods and practices and to expand VTS in the greater Boston area. The objective is to benefit students in grades K-8 and to maximize the museum resources available to shared visitors and schools.
The members of the Massachusetts VTS Group are from seven institutions: the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, the Museum of Fine Arts, Trinity Church, The Davis Museum at Wellesley College, The Fogg Museum at Harvard the Provincetown Art Association and Museum and Visual Understanding in Education/Visual Thinking Strategies.
