Consulting

Consulting services are designed upon request to meet specific needs and situations of museums, schools, and elsewhere. For example, a museum might request a docent training, help in redesigning its school partnership, or an introduction to VTS for educators in its community. An individual school might want an implementation conducted by VUE trainers.

These services and workshops vary from a few hours to several days, and the cost for each is dependent on length and the VUE staff needed.

To request consulting services, or for more information about bringing a VTS trainer to your area, please contact Leslie Hendrickson.

Educational Program Consulting
Expert VTS trainers will work with individual schools, districts or state offices to develop VTS training programs and VTS adaptations for schools.
Educational program consulting can include:

  • Development of a VTS program for a bilingual setting.
  • Development of an adaptation of VTS for architects.
  • Inter-district training collaboration.

Museum Program Consulting
Museums use Housen's Aesthetic Development ideas and VTS in many different ways. Our VTS consultants have worked with a museum's staff from curatorial decision-making to educational programming, and beyond. Museum program consulting can include:

  • In-depth training of staff and docents in VTS facilitation.
  • A workshop on how Housen and VTS impact on writing in a museum.
  • Development of image sets from community collections.

Research and Assessment Consulting
Our senior research staff can provide support for museums who are interested in measuring the impact of a program on aesthetic development, critical thinking, students achievement or teacher quality. The VTS research team can help in assessment tool development, Aesthetic Development Interview collection, coding and analysis, video and audio lesson analysis, and more. Research consulting can include:

  • Assessment of adult visitor growth in an ongoing program.
  • Workshop for teachers to evaluate pre- and post-VTS writing samples.
  • Measure the impact of a VTS program for Middle-school students.
